WWW.CITISCAPES.COM | 29 ARTOSPHERE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA An outstanding, world-renowned group of musicians known as the Artosphere Festival Orchestra returns year after year to the festival under the baton of Corrado Rovaris, Opera Philadelphia’s music director. Artosphere Festival Orchestra will perform for can’t-miss performances across the region. AFO will then head “off the grid” to area parks and downtown districts, bringing the music to the people with pop-up concerts in Siloam Springs on June 21 and then in the Dickson Street Entertainment District on June 27. Don’t be surprised to have a quartet join your dinner plans or a cellist play as you sip a pint. Returning to concert hall, AFO will perform the Romantic Masterworks of Mendelssohn and Brahms. This priceless experience is only $10 and features soaring strings, crashing cymbals and the roll of the timpani drum that creates an enchanting symphonic experience. AFO’s finale performance celebrates the moon in a collection of classic works paired with the modern likes of David Bowie and John Williams. Featuring the 1902 film A Trip to the Moon by Georges Méliès, patrons can expect an out-of- this-world performance.
