WWW.CITISCAPES.COM | 31 ACO BLACK BOX PRESENTS… Arts Center of the Ozarks will introduce its new black box theater space to the community with a new black box this season. The space will host ancillary events to the main stage series, such as a Slam Poetry Night before opening night of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and will host more intimate shows such as Love Letters by A. G. Gurney, in February 2020, and The Christians: A Cross Cultural Conversation about Religion, in April 2020. ART & SYMPOSIUMS ACO is pushing its gallery to new levels by giving each artist a chance to discuss his or her work through the new program called Art Talks. Artists Kelli Lehr, Leah Grant and Virmarie Suria DePoyster will be presented at a reception and curated discussion about their work. Additionally, there will be two new symposiums, Black History Month Symposium and Latinx Creatives Summit, that aim to highlight community artists across the region and discuss culturally specific artist practices. MUSIC NIGHTS With the return of Mainstreet Music Nights, the black box theater will be transformed into a caberet-style lounge offering food and drinks and featuring music curated and performed by local musicians. DOWNTOWN SPRINGDALE FOOD & ART This year ACO is partnering with local foodie Case Dighero to allow guests to experience Downtown Springdale’s new, interactive art initiative in a delicious way – featuring Black Apple Crossing, Shelby Lynn’s Cake Shoppe, Don Pedro’s Carnitas and many more. The night will culminate with a film by Red Barn Studios. ■ For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.acozarks.org or call the Arts Center of the Ozarks office at (479) 751-5441.
